Parkway Cafe

When my mom was a little girl, her family owned a cafe in Orderville, UT. She used to have to work there, starting when she was really little. She would always tell us stories about waiting tables or helping in the kitchen. She especially liked the chicken-fried steak; she says her dad made the best chicken-fried steak because he pounded it and tenderized it so much that it was just delicious. So, during Christmas 2006, we had a Parkway Cafe night. Mom made us chicken-fried steak. Jeremy and I memorialized it by creating this video.

I am finally getting the courage to try to do the blogging thing with my low tech skills. I wrote a little about football on Kevin's site. We are heading up to Salmon today for a BIG BASKETBALL GAME there tonight. Mom was in SLC Monday and Tuesday working for Sandy who had some surgery. She returned home last night late so she could go with me to see Kev play tonight. We are so excited about having had three of our girls here last week. It was fun. We really missed you, Jill, but will figure out how to make that work more for you sometime soon. I will try to get on and write more later in the week. We are having good weather for February, cold but bearable.

Hey, everybody, Kevin just led me through the mine field and I made it to the blog. Aren't you impressed? I don't know if I can do it again but I will try. Mom left for SCL this morning and Kevin started basketball practices today. I taught my usual racquetball classes, getting finished and out of the school by around 3:30 or so. For supper we made homemade macaroni and cheese, and some tomato, too. We have enough to share if anybody can come...
Not much exciting is happening except that we are having a beautiful fall. The weather - we can talk about the weather?- has been amazing. It is still warm enough to wear shirt sleeves during the day, although it does get cold at night and in the mornings. I have put a lot of split firewood in the woodshed for cold winter nights so Mom, Kevin and I can snuggle by the fire in the basement. If the weather holds we will have a full winter supply in before we need it. Mom has winterized the yard, blowing all the leaves out of the cracks and crevices and we got them all bagged up so they won't spread around again - CAMELOT!
Once I figure this out I will be consistent. Until then..

I will not be mooning anyone this week because I figure out how to get on the blog ha ha (WITH HELP FROM THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE )

its has been a great week kevin made the basketball team and so did all of his buddies so he is very happy

I got all the leaves off the lawn again wash the front windows made cookie dough shop all the sales at albertsons had 40 people to dinner now i am getting ready to drive to slc about three am so i can work and get a hair cut this week

we also had a elves christmas work shop this week for R.S I made brownies three times before getting them right Will tell you the story at christmas

well a least Iwont be the one mooning anyone today thank goodness I love you all be good and do what is right ok ok love mom

Christmas Memories!

I can't believe it but Christmas decorations are on sale at Alco! I figured that was the final signal that yeah its October and time to start thinking about the upcoming holidays. I want to hear everyone's favorite memories from Christmas at Mom and Dad's house. The good ol' 4-3-1. Here are a few of mine.

1. Singing all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth- without any front teeth! (I am not sure why this memory sticks out in my mind but it does.)

2. Always reading the real Christmas story before opening presents. (I like that now but hated it growing up. Why is Mom always right?)

3. The time we got stuck while trying to take breakfast Christmas morning. It was a blizzard outside and we drove the gray honda. Go figure.

4. One night around Christmas time when we were probably 8 and 11, Jill and I were at home alone and we made microwave popcorn and then put butter on it and ate it by the Christmas tree.

5. Of course "the mountain of presents." I love opening them one by one and seeing what everyone else got. I also love when the stacks of presents look like the T-mobile signal bars. Kevin stack getting the best service in all areas... (no complaints)

6. Scrooge with popcorn

7. All aspects of twelve days.

8. New York trip from Mom and Jill.

9. Caroling with the neighborhood and then eating glazed doughnuts and drinking hot chocolate at Lovell's

10. Charades!!

11. Spending the last three Christmas' in a row at mom and dad's - i just can't let go.

12. The smell of wassel and sugar cookies; pine trees (even if its just candles) and hot cocoa with candy canes in it, chocolate oranges real oranges and all the other smells of Christmas. Seeing Christmas lights and listening to Christmas music everyday for a month and getting a kiss everytime I see miseltoe!! I love Christmas!!

Mostly I love remembering Christmas because it's the time of year when people are giving loving and happy. There is hope in dark eyes and peace in just knowing that the Savior was born and he will come again.

I can't wait to hear yours!
